Overview

Kilimanjaro Accommodation

Kilimanjaro accommodation splits into two very different categories: on the mountain, where camping (or huts on Marangu) is standard and included in your climb package, and around the mountain, where the foothills of Moshi and Machame host some genuinely memorable lodges with direct Kibo views — a good place to relax before or celebrate after your climb.

  • On-mountain camping equipment and setup included in every climb package
  • Marangu route uses mountain huts instead of tents
  • Foothill lodges with direct Kibo summit views for pre/post-climb stays
  • Some foothill lodges also offer an extra acclimatization night at altitude

Where To Stay

What to expect

On The Mountain

Camping equipment, tents and (on Marangu) hut accommodation are all arranged as part of your climb.

Foothill Lodges

Boutique properties in the Machame or Marangu foothills with direct mountain views.

Pre-Climb Acclimatization

Some travelers add an extra night at a foothill lodge before starting, for a gentler altitude transition.

Planning Your Stay

Good to know

On-mountain accommodation is built into every Kilimanjaro package we arrange. For before or after your climb, tell us your preferred comfort level and we'll recommend foothill lodges to match.

Do I need to book mountain accommodation separately?
No — camping or hut accommodation is included as standard in every Kilimanjaro climb package.
Are foothill lodges worth the extra cost?
Many climbers love spending a celebratory night at a lodge with a hot shower and mountain views right after coming down.
Can I add an acclimatization night before climbing?
Yes — we can arrange an extra night at altitude before your climb starts if you'd like the additional adjustment time.
