One of Kilimanjaro's most scenic and remote routes, approaching from the west through untouched rainforest — longer, quieter and with an excellent acclimatization profile.
Lemosho starts further west than any other route, crossing the wide, high-altitude Shira Plateau before joining the same Southern Circuit path as Machame at Barranco Camp. The extra distance and days translate directly into better acclimatization, and its western starting point sees noticeably fewer trekkers than Machame during the first two to three days.
A well-paced standard itinerary with a strong acclimatization profile.
An additional day for the most gradual, highest-success-rate version of this route.
The extra distance and days give this route one of Kilimanjaro's best summit success rates.
A quieter western start through untouched forest, joining busier trails only from Barranco Camp.
If you have the extra days, this is often our top recommendation for a first Kilimanjaro climb.
